It's "back to school" time, and why not see what resources the educators themselves are making available to share with their colleagues? The idea is for Lecturesonline.org to "eventually become a giant searchable database of thousands of digitized academic lectures, educational pages, graphs, figures, charts, and research papers." Divided into Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Humanities, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences.

Extensive economic data, with programs highlighted in countries such as Bangladesh, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and more.

Director of Central Intelligence Annual Report for the United States Intelligence Community

Find out just what the CIA has been up to during the past year in this online presentation of this week's report to Congress. A glossary consisting of acronyms is provided; in the list of activities I even found one that was directly translation-related. The document also serves as an interesting study in the use of language.

Sounds of the Worlds' Languages

Day to day, we take languages seriously - we have to; it's our job. Loosen up a little, and study just what sounds the animals make in different languages. For example, take the bee: in Danish and Estonian, the bee says "summm-summm," while in Bengali it says "bhonbhon," and "bunbun" in Japanese. Didn't know that, did you?
