Cecilia Falk's Home Page

I'm going to feature some of my favorite home pages by translators, starting with the mother of them all - Cecilia Falk's Home Page. Cecilia pioneered home pages for translators, and through the years has featured The Tool Box, with tools for translators and shareware that can be downloaded, as well as a page of Language Links, with glossaries and dictionaries. She also maintains a database of translators' homepages, and Svenska Sidan, resources for Swedish translators. And if you happen to share her interest in the Bronte sisters, she maintains an extensive list of links about them, as well.

July 18 - Russian History

Russian History on the Web

This site provides a "critical guide to web resource relating to Russian history" with the objective of separating the valuable resources for researchers and students from sites of lesser value. Claiming not to be comprehensive of all Russian history sites on the web, it only includes sites that are "a) reasonably accurate; b) neutral in tone and intent; c) likely to be of use to researchers and students of Russian history." Interestingly, there is one section classified "Tendentious Pages" - those that "willfully distort the historical record in support of some political agenda or prejudice."
