Iberian Studies Web
Not exactly my neck of the Internet woods, this site seems to be a gold mine for Spanish and Portuguese translators. "The Iberian Studies Web is designed to provide access to scholarly resources in Iberian Studies (for Spain, Portugal and Andorra)." Its links include this site from the Spanish Embassy in Canada, Si, Spain. Or try this collection of Spain-based search engines. Lit translators may find links to publishers in Spain, Portugal, and Andorra helpful. The Portuguese Embassy in London features LusoCultura. I looked for one Portuguese link that did not work - but hacking back I found this site for the Instituto Camoes, all in Portuguese - but it looks fascinating!

The European Union Information Sources
This site differs from other EU sites in that it provides substantial background information about each link and the office that backs it. "This is a basic guide, as of December 1998, for the businessman, lawyer, academic and interested public with a need for information about the EU. It covers the fundamentals of EU publishing, legislative procedures, print resources, and electronic information." Each link is accompanied by extensive background information. Good one.

| June 21 - Skateboarding |
|
Skateboard Science
Why did I select a site on skateboarding? Because I know translators have had to deal with the subject, so when I found this excellent resource on the Web, complete with glossary, it had to be included. The site offers a 'webcast' of a skateboarding event, as well as the physics of skateboard tricks, and skateboard equipment (now I know what to call those funny parts spread about my garage). Just one of the many subjects about which translators are expected to be experts - makes life interesting;-
