Hi |
I’m Susan Larsson, and welcome to my Web site! As a translator, I've had the opportunity to search the Web for some of the strangest subjects and found them. The purpose of this Web site is to share some of the sites I've found, and the lessons I've learned about searching, with my colleagues involved in translation, as well as others who are fascinated by The Search. This is a work in progress, and has evolved in ways I had not quite imagined when I first put up the site last May. I’ve spent a fair number of my waking hours surfing the Web for the past few years, and it never fails to amaze me all the things you can find. Searching effectively is a hobby of mine; I'll share some of the things I've learned, including a page with the best search engines for translators to use. Download the documentation in Swedish or in English from the conferences I've held on searching the Internet for translators (and stay tuned the notes from the conference in Brazil will be added soon!). Be sure to check out the links (länkarna) that were visited during the workshop in Sweden, or even more links from the four-day conference in Brazil. My primary specialty is medical translation, so over the years I have gathered quite a few resources in the field. Check the medical links page for resources like medline, pathology handbooks, online medical textbooks, patent resources, EU directives, pharmaceutical information, and other helpful sites for the medical translator. Since I translate from Swedish to English, some day I hope to add a page with sites about Sweden, in both Swedish and English. The Net is not all work for me; I am also fascinated by really interesting sites that ‘might come in handy’ some day. The result: Translators Site du Jour: Language Links Plus. Join me on my daily Web wandering and check out these sites; some could be useful; others are just plain fun. Stop by each day, and see where the journey leads. Check the archives, to see where we have been. And I've added a new page of current awareness resources. Just for fun, visit What Flavo(u)r English - links to sites explaining the differences between UK and US English; most are fun, some are serious; definitely food for thought. Oh, while you're here please take a moment to sign the guestbook, and tell me what you think!
